成立於1998年6月26日的社團法人中華動漫出版同業協進會,由台灣出版社漫畫及動畫業者、周邊商品業者及經銷商共同組成的社團法人組織,是台灣漫畫業界最具影響力的公協會團體。
台灣的動漫發展已超過八十年歷史,早期台灣漫畫出版社除了代理授權日本漫畫的出版外,亦致力培養台灣漫畫家,也因此台灣漫畫作品,兼具了日本經驗及中華文化元素,孕育出獨特且多元的漫畫題材。出類拔萃的作品不僅在台灣暢銷深受漫迷喜愛,更獲得國外出版商青睞,授權行銷遍佈歐美、日本、中國及東南亞等地,近年更積極邁向國際舞台,除了先後受到歐洲漫畫聖地法國邀展外(香貝里‧安古蘭),甚至接連於歐、日國際漫畫賽事中履獲大獎,證明台灣漫畫作品深具潛力以及未來性。
本會秉持對動漫市場發展貢獻一己之力的宗旨,每年暑假定期舉辦「漫畫博覽會」,是台灣最盛大的動漫交流促銷活動,每年均吸引十萬人次參與,為了更進一步服務會員廠商,2013年2月14至2月18日並首度舉辦第一屆台北國際動漫節,獲得廣大的好評與迴響。近年更陸續承辦文化部的「劇情漫畫獎」、「金漫獎」等漫畫大獎系列推廣活動,發掘新生代漫畫家,打響台灣漫畫家知名度,協助報名參賽國際漫畫獎項不遺餘力;2011年更進一步和文化部攜手打造「台灣漫畫資訊網」,為漫畫業者、民眾和經銷通路業者提供便利交流平台,同時也提供英法文台灣漫畫簡介,加強國際間對台灣漫畫的認知與了解。
此外,為協助業者拓展大中華市場,本協會於2006年邀請日本、香港及台灣重要動漫業者,主辦「台北國際動漫畫產業研討會」,獲得業界極大迴響。2008年起更進一步大規模集結業者組團,參與泰國、以及中國最具影響力的「中國國際動漫節」,設置台灣動漫館,宣揚台灣優秀作品、推動版權洽談以及促進周邊精品販售事宜,為台灣漫畫(COMICS OF TAIWAN)打響名號;
有鑑於近年適逢全球不景氣、原創力疲乏以及盜版猖獗等問題,本會特於2014年配合第二屆台北國際動漫節期間舉辦「2014台北國際動漫高峰論壇」,邀請中、日、港、臺動漫大師及知名企業,探討各國市場脈動面面觀、分享異業行銷整合成功經驗,以及深入剖析暢銷漫畫家的成功密碼,成功吸引許多漫畫家、有志投身動漫文創產業的青年學子,以及希望開發潛在商機的動漫從業經銷人員共襄盛舉,且獲得廣大迴響。
關於經銷通路方面,為提昇漫畫下游通路德經營水平,2008年11月邀請日本講談社來台舉辦「漫畫行銷研討座談會」,為動漫上、中、下游業著提供新思維及觀念,期待突破逆境,開創藍海商機;更於2009年起聯合出版社業者與全省200多家經銷通路,舉辦11月動漫月滿額抽獎促銷活動,自活動開辦三年以來,獲得漫迷廣大支持,成功帶動通路業績,營造雙贏局面。
由於所做的努力深受業界肯定,欲加入本會的動漫相關業者日益增加,從早期的漫畫出版社、經銷商及動畫代理業者等,延伸至電子書、奇幻小說、公仔、鋼彈等業者陸續加入,除了營造共同商機之外,亦形成重要的產業鏈,日益引起產、官、學界的重視,期望將來在台灣發展文化創意產業的過程中,扮演關鍵性角色。
近年來有鑑於IP(Intellectual Property)知識產權的影響力,同時擴大服務會員的範圍,本會推出吉祥物「漫寶(MANBO)」,期許身為代言人的「漫寶」,除了替本會員打響知名度,也肩負振興動漫產業使命,促進動漫經銷通路銷售業績。
本會迄今能有充分的經費推廣服務,須特別感謝漫畫博覽會八家主辦單位長期以來的捐贈及贊助。
The Chinese Animation and Comic Publishers Association was founded on June 26, 1998 by Taiwan publishers of comics, companies in the animation industry, firms involved in peripheral products and marketing companies.
The organization is the most influential of its kind in Taiwan's animation and comics industry.
Animation and comic arts on Taiwan have a history dating back over eight decades. In the industry's infancy, Taiwan's publishers of comics were licensed to publish Japanese comics and also were instrumental in nurturing a generation of local comic artists. As a result, Taiwan comics exhibit a unique combination of Japanese and Chinese elements. Locally produced comics have not only been a huge hit at home, but have also become quite popular overseas and have attracted the attention of foreign publishers, who have been licensed to print and distribute Taiwan comics in Europe, Japan, China and Southeast Asia. Taiwan comics have increasingly gained international attention in recent years, with works having been invited to take part in the Chambery Comics Festival in France. Comics from Taiwan have also won awards at competitions in Europe and Japan, highlighting the potential of Taiwan comic products with regards to international copyrights.
In recent years, the Association has worked aggressively to develop the market for animation and comics. In addition to annually organizing the Comic Exhibition (the 2017 event will be the eighteenth), the Association holds major promotional activities, which each year attract hundreds of thousands of people. For years, attendance at the annual Comic Exhibition has topped 100,000. In an effort to better serve industry participants, Taipei International Comics & Animation Festival was held from February 14 to February 18 this year, with the event turning out to be an enormous success. In recent years, the association has taken over responsibility from the MINISTRY OF CULTURE for promotional activities such as the Graphic Novel Awards and the Golden Comic Awards. These activities help to uncover new and upcoming comic artists. Meanwhile, to help publicize Taiwan comics in the international arena, the Association assists comic artists in registering to take part in international competitions. The Association has cooperated with the government in creating the Taiwan Comic Information Network, providing a platform for interaction between comic artists, publishers, distributors, and the public. The website provides information in Chinese, English and French, enabling the international community to have a better awareness and understanding of Taiwan's comics.
In 2006, the Association invited important industry representatives from Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan to take part in the highly successful Taipei International Animation and Comic Industry Conference to assist the local industry to expand into the Greater China market. In 2008, a large-scale delegation was assembled to participate in an exhibition in Thailand and the China International Cartoon & Animation Festival, which is the most influential event of its kind in mainland China. Taiwan pavilions were established to promote the best of Taiwan comics and to encourage licensing negotiations and the sale of peripheral products. This helped to create an awareness of "comics of Taiwan."
The comics market in recent years has been impacted by a weak economy, diminishing originality and piracy. In response, the association in 2014 held, in conjunction with the 2nd Taipei International Comics and Animation Festival, the 2014 Taipei International Comics and Animation Summit. Comic and animation artists from Taiwan, China, Japan, and Hong Kong, along with representatives from well-known companies in the industry, were invited to discuss the state of the market and share their experiences in the successful cross-marketing of comics and animation with other industries. The experts also examined the secrets behind the successful marketing of various artists, how to attract new artists into the fray, efforts to entice younger individuals to become involved in the culture and creative industry, and the desire to develop potential business opportunities. The summit was a resounding success.
In an effort to promote marketing of comics and bolster downstream distribution, in November 2008 Japan's Kodansha publishing house was invited to Taiwan to hold a seminar on the marketing of comics. This conference was aimed at providing new ways of thinking to Taiwan's midstream and downstream comics industry, helping them to overcome hurdles and create blue ocean opportunities. In 2009, the association brought together publishers and over 200 comics vendors throughout Taiwan in a large-scale promotional activity that was held in November. The month-long event, which features a lucky draw, has been wildly popular over the past three years, helping to boost sales of comics and business for publishers.
More and more comics- and animation-related firms are looking to join the Association in light of the success it has displayed in promoting the industry. Initially, the Association was home to comic publishing houses, distributors and agents for animation products. Over the years, publishers of science fiction novels, dolls, Gundam, and peripheral products, such as e-books, have also joined. In addition to creating joint business opportunities and forming an important industrial chain, the Association has won increasing attention from government agencies, the industry and the academic sector, hoping that the comics industry will play an important role in the development of Taiwan's cultural innovation industry.
In light of the impact of intellectual property issues in recent years and in an effort to expand the range of services to its members, the CACPA is introducing a mascot named Manbo. It is hoped Manbo's frequent appearance not only will create greater awareness for the association, but also strive to achieve the mission of revitalizing the local comic and animation industry and helping to boost sales through various marketing channels.
